Most parents want to do everything that they can in order to keep their babies safe and healthy. However, not everyone really knows about all the options for doing so. Besides feeding your baby the best food, it is also good to purchase safe products for them, including their bedding. Not many parents really think about the material that their baby’s bedding and clothing is made from, but many of these materials contain chemical residues. This is why organic sheets and organic baby blankets are a good thing to purchase.
Conventional blankets and sheets are made from cotton that has been grown using all sorts of pesticides and chemicals. Residues of these chemicals and pesticides remain on the cotton when it is harvested and made into sheets and other bedding. Furthermore, this type of bedding is usually then coated with other chemicals in order to make it so that it doesn’t wrinkle. This means your baby is spending an awful lot of time in contact with all these chemicals since babies sleep for so much of the time.
However, organic baby blankets do not contain any chemicals. They are grown without pesticides and chemicals so you don’t have that residue to worry about, and then in order to keep them organic they also are not coated with any chemicals in the manufacturing process. Because more and more parents are looking to purchase this type of bedding, there is actually a decent selection available. However, you can expect to pay a bit more for this bedding than you would for that which is conventionally produced. Your baby’s health really is worth it though, and if you look around you should be able to find some sales and good deals that can help to make it a bit less expensive.
Most organic baby blankets are made from cotton, but you can also find bamboo or wool blankets if you want something different. You might also want to consider purchasing baby clothing that is organic since clothing has the same issues with chemicals as bedding, and you probably want to minimize the baby’s contact with these as much as possible.
